Red Carpet Recap: 68th Annual Golden Globes

The beloved red carpet is what I look forward at every award show. Just this past weekend was the Golden Globes, which was funny as hell because Ricky Gervais hosted and talked shit about Charlie Sheen.  I have to say I wasn't totally head-over-heels in love with any of these looks, but there were some ladies that looked quite lovely. But before I get to the good let's discuss the bad and the ugly...

Julianne Moore
wearing Lanvin dress and shoes and Bulgari jewels

This look pains me a great deal because I love this woman.  She is such a fantastic actor (Magnolia, Boogie Nights) and she is so gorgeous, but why the hell did she opt to wear a dress that would wrinkle so easily and drag on the carpet?!  She does not look her fabulous self here.

Helena Bonham Carter
wearing Vivienne Westwood dress

I'm not even shocked, but really.....?!  What's with the mismatching shoes?  That just looks plain dumb.

Halle Berry
wearing vintage Nina Ricci and Harry Winston jewels

I think that sheer cloth is just totally unnecessary.  I get it, she has a hot body and wants to show it off, but seriously Halle, you should have cut that shit off because you look like a stripper.

Jennifer Love Hewitt
wearing Ramona Keveza

Jennifer always wears prom hair circa 1990 to award shows, which is actually pretty funny.  She looks like a bride here, just replace a bouquet of white roses with that clutch.

I realized that my favorite looks were simple and clean like these...

 Emma Stone
wearing Calvin Klein Collection

Claire Danes
wearing Calvin Klein Collection and Fred Leighton jewels

Lea Michele
wearing Oscar de la Renta
or classic and glittery...

Anne Hathaway
wearing Armani Prive and Van Cleef & Arpels jewels

Angelina Jolie
wearing Altelier Versace

Scarlett Johannson
wearing Elie Sabb and Van Cleef jewels

Sandra Bullock
wearing Jenny Packham and Irit jewels

Jennifer Lopez
wearing Zuhair Murad and Harry Winston jewels

Old School always reigns supreme :)

Snail speed but I ain't left yet!

You know what's completely bananas?  The fact that I have zero time to go online and do this.  If you're a parent and work full time you have very little time to just fall back and chill.  I'm not complaining, I'm just saying this is why it's taken ages to do a proper post.  I did have the luxury two weeks ago to have an impromptu photo shoot for my online shop, which will be up on Etsy. The shop has been a goal of mine for the past three years at least. Why it has taken me years to accomplish this I have no idea, but then again I have so many things on my to-do list it's not so much of a surprise.  The shop will offer vintage, vintage inspired pieces and jewelry.  The clothing in the first batch of items that will be up for sale in February are straight from my closet, check it out...

I won't disclose the name of the shop just yet, but I assure you it's Electrifying!  Speaking of awesomeness is my food blog I blabbed about in my last post.  I've decided that there will be no food blog and instead I'll be talking about food here.  I'm teaming up with a super savvy techie to pimp the shit out of this blog and organize it into categories- food being one of them.  Before I take off to make money I must tell you about the amazing book I am currently reading, Bloody Crimes.  This gem is about Abraham Lincoln's funeral and the chase for Jefferson Davis.  I am a fan of James L. Swanson, who has also written Manhunt, this man is a genius!!!!!!!!!!!  There's too much to say and a whole post about his books will have to wait for another day, but I will tell you that if you LOVE to learn about Abraham Lincoln you will appreciate how this dude writes.

Here is a clip of James L. Swanson talking about the young adult version of Manhunt, Chasing Lincoln's Killer, which I've read and adored.

A Blog Is Born

I obsesses about the following: music, history and fashion.  I have a fourth love: food.  The thought of a thick Arrabbiata sauce, a slice of raw or cooked salmon or the bitter taste of dark chocolate makes me wanna sing like Julie Andrews in the Sound of Music (another obsession btw).  It's safe to say that I eat home cooked meals during the week and dine out every weekend in the search of that perfect meal of whatever my tummy desires at the moment.  It's also a fact that I photograph my eating experiences and engross in deep conversations about ingredients and preparation with friends and family that adore food as well.  For some people dining is something that you do, but for me dining is an event!  For this reason I am starting a food blog!  I have the material, but the name I am still unsure about.  In the meantime, here are some of my photographs of some of that delicious food I've savored and loved...

Current Musings

These are a few of the looks that will inspire me this chilly season...

Marc Jacobs Fall 2010 ready-to-wear

L.A.M.B. Fall 2010 ready-to-wear

Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2010 ready-to-wear

Blumarine Fall 2010 ready-to-wear

Oh what to wear on these fall/winter days? Personally I adore piling on the faux furs, which totally reminds me that I have a faux fur Russian style hat from H&M that I purchased a few years ago.  I must fish that out of my closet.  Thick tights are also a necessity in this treacherous weather (Alaska and New England people this is the part where you laugh because California doesn't have icy cold weather compared to what you must be accustomed to.) The tights + ankle sock combo has never been attempted in my part so this could just be the year I try this.  I'm still on a prostitute high platform vibe so I think I'll be wearing my tall Dollhouse leather boots on a heavy rotation as well.

Thank you Saint Selena for the wonderful site that is style.com for the plethora of photos

Kate Spade Rocks

PHOTOS BY ME

I almost forgot about this!  I attended the Women's Expo a few weeks ago in San Francisco and was lucky enough to see the Kate Spade Fall 2010 collection.  Kate Spade has always been one of my favorite fashion designers because her looks are classy and the colors are always so bold.  Another reason why I love Kate Spade is because I like to imagine that if Hitchcock was still alive and making films he would probably dress his leading ladies in Kate Spade.

Spring is going to be awesome judging from this!  I especially love the top dress, damn the girl looks totally hot.  I wonder if we'll be seeing it photographed on a fancy Hollywood lady...I hope whoever wears it does justice.
