This is the second batch of food love photos. All these meals were prepared by yours truly. Next post will be all about beverages!

I made these cupcakes out of a box for my birthday bash when I turned 23. That was a cool party- loud music, Jimi Hendrix was being played on the plasma (sans sound), Rock n Roll Circus was projected on the wall (sans sound) and the homies all dropped by of course. Did I mention it was a 60's themed party?

This was my broccoli phase. I seriously ate that shit everyday for a good three weeks and lost hella weight. The pasta has a pesto sauce on it.

The great thing about being Mexican (there are many great reasons) is that you have great staples in your kitchen such as tortilla chips, avocado, salsa, rice and beans. Nachos are so simple to make and damn satisfying, these have bits of breaded fish from dinner left overs for an extra bang.

More nachos, I love them!!! Honestly, they take minutes to prepare.

Brown rice and a fish side made from (canned) salmon. The salmon is cooked in a bit of olive oil w/ the following- black pepper, kosher salt, cumin, bay leaves and capers. Let this finish cooking in vegetable broth for an even richer taste and a bit of broth to pour over that rice.

Bought the pasta and cooked it at home. It was stuffed with three types of cheeses and the sauce was from Trader Joe's, but tweaked by being sauteed with basil, carrots and onions.

Summer Salad- greens, peaches, carrots, yellow bell peppers and a thai peanut dressing.

Summer Salad Part Deux w/the above ingredients minus the peaches, but with sunflower seeds, almonds finely chopped and garbanzo beans.

The Say You Are What You Eat

I love food, what more can I say? Looking at these photographs taken over time transports me back to the beautiful memories shared with friends and family over delicious meals. I noticed that I love to eat vegetables, seafood and I crave a lot of spicy Asian food. I have two more sets of photographs that I would like to share within the next couple of days- homemade foods and beverages. For now, here is some gourmet shit!

Party Hip Hop Style

Rock the Bells 2009 was off da hook. I had so much fun because I got to party with the homies and hear some music by Evidence, the Alchemist and Busta Rhymes. I don't remember much from the other acts because the partying got a little deep and I'm just glad I have photos to remember the good ol' times...














Phat party for sure- 20,000 superstars, ladies, rappers, pimps, djs, stoners, b boys, gangstas, groupies, wackness, posers, mamacitas, fans, youngsters, new friends and then some.

I See A Little Silhouetto of a Man

Yesterday after a pleasant night at the cemetery, some edible treats and E&J VSOP I had the joy of listening to the beautiful song that is "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen and trippin' the fuck out. I was immediately taken back to an old post from an ancient blog from back in the day. I retrieved that puppy and here it is on a pretty silver platter.

These past few days have been busy with birthdays-xmas parties-work-seeing friends-spending time with them-and music. I love it when I am enlightened by the beautiful spirit of music. Yesterday was a special day because I was introduced to the grand world of Queen. To be completly honest, prior to being submerged into their world I was a bit turned off by their songs that I had heard: "We Will Rock You" and "We are the Champions" (I'm assuming those are the titles). The songs are cool because they are epic and have an anthem quality, but they are over played, which means that they are overly annoying to me.

But alas, the prejudice was dissolved yesterday as I watched a documentary on how they make music and I wanted to die from happiness. They are so creative in every-single aspect. They are so detailed oriented I was so thrilled to learn about how much time and passion they put into making their craft. What is even better is that they dress so well and perform with such artistic quality that they become perfect humans.



...and I wanted to throw up from glee when I saw him performing in this little number:





And if this wasn't enough joy, I also watched a documentary about Fela Kuti. I have been an admirer of Fela ever since I learned that the Mars Volta listen to him right before they go onstage to get pumped up. I totally see Fela Kuti in the Mars Volta. His spirit is in their music. Fela is hailed as the best African musician ever. He is also considered a prophet and a revolutionary. Fela was the leader of his tribe and an enemy to the colonial power of Nigeria. He is impressive. His music gives you happiness and hope. His live performances are truly unique because he has a posse of beautiful women (who happen to be his wives) put on a spectacular dance performance. The whole experience is chill...
